Our Custom grip screws are not cheap nor cheaply made. Our first venture into grip screws came when a young lady asked us if we had grip screws for an obsolete foreign handgun. Her husband had been on her case. We checked our many major suppliers to see if we could find them, to no avail. We offered to make them if we could find out the specifications of the screws. She had one out of four and sent it in to us. We measured it checked the millimeter thread size and set to work. Making a screw correctly. We start out with a piece of steel large enough to make the head diameter. In the engine lathe we precisely turn the diameter for the thread and head diameter. We then thread the screw and cut it off allowing for the head thickness. Then it is placed in a special built threaded collet on the milling machine and has the screwdriver slot cut, with a small milling cutter. It is then brought back to the lathe and the head shape finished and polished. The screw is now ready for heat treat and draw to give it the proper hardness and strength. It is blued and ready for shipment. We make all of our screws to meet or exceed the original manufacturers specifications. |
